Clinton Campaign Staff Desperation Degrades Fucking Judgment

February 22, 2008

Last night at the Democratic debate, the crowd made its displeasure very clear when Clinton refused to let the Obama plagiarism canard go, quipping “it’s change you can Xerox”. Then at the end of the debate, she very powerfully emphasized that she was “absolutely honored” to be on the stage with Obama. I believe that the latter remark was the real Clinton, and the former was scripted by one of her desperate campaign staffers.

Think about it. Her staffers are on the cusp of either dispersal back to their ordinary lives in cities and towns across the nation, or a triumphant arrival in DC to feast on spoils and become drunk with power. Clinton is on the cusp of either the Presidency of the United States, or a return to her life of massive political power and personal luxury.

Clinton’s staffers badly miscalculated with the plagiarism shit with Democrats. Yeah, right-wingers give a shit about this; so what? Her staffers’ desperation has degraded their tactical and strategic judgment. I hope Clinton realizes this.

Oh, and by the way, tell me that the spontaneous warm Clinton-Obama handshake didn’t bring a goddamn tear to your eye. C’mon, I fucking dare you.

  1. I don’t care if it was scripted by her staffers–she should be smarter than to play such lame cards. And if all she gets from her staffers is lame shit like this, she should have gotten a better staff. It’s not like she hasn’t had exposure to big-time politics.
I think the past few weeks have shown that is out of touch with what people want (or may be tired of). Throw in poor planning and negligence/overconfidence from the beginning, and it just doesn’t reflect well on her.
Also, I don’t think she has involved Bill very much in strategy and management. After Bill’s comments post-S. Carolina (even Jesse Jackson won SC etc) I thought Bill was deliberately hurting Hillary because he didn’t wanna play Tony Danza in “Who’s the boss?”. In the light of more recent evidence, I think Hillary asked told him, early on, to stay the hell out–that this was her show—and that he was glad to give her enough rope to let her hang herself.
The level of incompetence she and her campaign has demonstrated has been revealing, shocking and disappointing to me. If she loses this nomination—and it certainly appears she will—she has only herself to blame. Staffers? Heck, if you are a good leader, you’ll outline a strong vision and get the staffers capable of fleshing that out in a thousand great specifics. You don’t blindly follow staffers— you should know that the advice is freaking daft.

  2. “you should know that the advice is freaking daft” should read “you should know when the advice is freaking daft”.

My thoughts, too. She’s been having some very Shrub-like moments in the past few weeks, i.e., living in a bubble and refusing to believe reality even when it’s smacking her right in the face.

I think she is starting to get the picture.

  5. PP, even if she gets the picture now, I’m still disappointed. I thought she was smart enough to figure out this stuff before other people did. Turns out even an outline wasn’t enough for her—you gotta draw a detailed picture and then smack her over the head with it. All I can do is think back to the Kucinich comment from an early debate: “Imagine having a president who is right the FIRST time”. I think no further comment is necessary on that.

I don’t think it would have mattered to the outcome. I am just glad she is getting it. Her behavior last night gives me some degree of confidence that if Obama wins the nom, Clinton will use her considerable political talents to help him destroy the Republicans, and hopefully elect a whole fuckload of Dem Congresscritters down-ticket.

What brought a tear to my eye was how fucking stupid it was of her to keep on the plagiarism line. who the fuck is she listening to??????

For damn sure Bill wasn’t consulted. ..or is he going senile?

  8. PhysioProf Says:

Even as she was saying the line, you could kind of tell she knew it was stupid bullshit.

I agree with everybody (kinda like Hillary : )
She should not be the last to know these things, if she wants to be our leader. She should be the first. Or if not, at least she should have chosen capable Staff – another reflection on her qualifications to lead.
Loved the Tony Danza line – that had actually occured to me too, I’m sad to admit. Peace and Love to ALL my Dem bro’s and sisters.
