A phenomenon has recently come to PhysioProf’s attention that is so sick, so heinous, so foul, so demented, so fucking wrong, that I am left almost speechless. This is the practice of creating diaper cakes as gifts or ornaments for baby showers. Now don’t get me wrong; I love babies, and baby showers are very wonderful events.

But the words “diaper” and “cake” do not belong in the same fucking noun phrase! They do not belong in the same sentence! They do not even belong in the same godforsaken paragraph!

Cakes are beautiful, delicious, sweet confectionary delights. Diapers are rags for soaking up baby shit. Diapers and cakes do not belong together!! Diaper cake is an abomination, a blight on humankind, a horror of epic proportions!

Compare & Contrast

Two seemingly unrelated news stories of the last couple weeks caught PhysioProf’s attention this morning. On the one hand, we have what even the sick-fuck neo-feudal right-wing propaganda rag Wall Street Journal recognizes as immigration theatre: the raid of an Iowa meatpacking plant and the arrest of hundreds of Guatemalan “illegal immigrant” meatpackers. On the other hand, we have the apparently trivial society page news of a police raid on a Hamptons art gallery cocktail party for liquor law violations. Is there a connection between these events?

I am loath to comment on or link to the New York Times, which has sold its soul to the worst of the worst sick-fuck neo-feudal imperialist elements of the corporate oligarchy. However, in looking for something sufficiently enraging to muster up a blog post, I stumbled upon David “Bobo” Brooks’s latest puddle of projectile vomit, and figured “FUCK IT!”

Hard though it may be to believe for those that are still laboring under the delusion that the New York Times operates under any journalistic and editorial standards whatsoever, Brooks’s Friday column is all about the staggeringly novel brand-fucking-new never-before-imagined deep insight that Democrats like Barack Obama are nerdy geeks and Republicans like George Bush are manly jocks. If you have the stomach for it, exegesis (i.e. picking through the vomit for indentifiable chunks of food) can be found below the fold. Read the rest of this entry »

Academic reality has been throttled and kicked to the curb. Expect a real post today or tomorrow!

Brief Blogging Hiatus

Academic realities intrude, and I may be unable to fucking post until this Friday.

Here is an editorial by the New York Times explaining why the Indiana “Anti Voter Fraud” law is itself a fraudulent attempt by the Republican Party to deny the franchise to numerous United States citizens, and why the Supreme Court decision to uphold the law is a serious mistake. There is no evidence whatsoever that the form of fraudulent voting this law is intended to prevent—someone showing up to the polls and voting as someone else—even exists.

Who are the people who are going to prevented from voting because they do not possess a valid government-issued photo ID? The poor, the homebound elderly, the homeless, and racial minorities. The Republican Party does not want these citizens of the United States to be able to vote because they will not be voting for the disgusting neo-feudal fucking demons that the Republican Party drags out of the shitstreams of its morally heinous conservative sewer to put up for election every year.

This is all bad enough, but it is not the worst thing about the Supreme Court decision upholding the Indiana law. Read the rest of this entry »
