Compare & Contrast

May 26, 2008

Two seemingly unrelated news stories of the last couple weeks caught PhysioProf’s attention this morning. On the one hand, we have what even the sick-fuck neo-feudal right-wing propaganda rag Wall Street Journal recognizes as immigration theatre: the raid of an Iowa meatpacking plant and the arrest of hundreds of Guatemalan “illegal immigrant” meatpackers. On the other hand, we have the apparently trivial society page news of a police raid on a Hamptons art gallery cocktail party for liquor law violations. Is there a connection between these events?

Apparently, the Hamptons police busted a fucking art gallery cocktail party yesterday for serving cheap-ass box-wine without a “license” or whatthefuckever. Think about it for a moment. Working-class cops busting the rich motherfuckers who pay their salaries for having a fucking cocktail party. Why is this happening?

Could it be because the right-wing lunatic oligarchs overreached in their insane greedy upwards redistribution of wealth? So we now have the spectacle of the fascist police state continuing to scapegoat yet another group of poor-ass brown-skinned laborers–this time Guatemalans–for the economic shitcanning of the middle-class.

But at least some of the shitcanned middle-class–including these Hamptons cops–are starting to figure out that it ain’t some broken-down poor-ass Guatemalan meatpackers that have fucked them in the economic ass. It’s those rich-ass motherfuckers swilling cheap-ass wine in the Hamptons and their Wall Street compatriots.

The three-card monte game played by the neo-feudal right-wing oligarchy for the last four decades is starting to lose its effectiveness. Can you say “class war”!?

    “neo-feudal”

You need to come up with something better.
That’s way to tame, and sooo 19th century America.

ohh, Physio, you dreamer you !!! This incredibly tepid bustage of irrelevant social events is a kabuki theatre (sp. for the canuckian) distraction of such transparency I’m surprised you went for the bait. The Hamptons? Could the MSM chum be any more obvious?

The cryto-oligarchs orchestrate this type of farcical tableau specifically to blunt class warfare. Shit, they even got away with tossing Martha in the clinker for a few months! “OOhh, look they’re getting tough on these stock manipulating elitist pig-dogs! Kenny-boy dead! Martha incarcerated! woohoo…. say, what’s on the teevee Maudie?”.

And bayman, when you are dealing with antediluvian class structures terms like neo-colonial, cryto-monarchist, aggrofeudal, e-peasantry, McPeon which allude to the Dark Ages polity to which we are rapidly returning…

True, but medieval feudalism has an almost simple appeal that for me triggers a vision of the quiet, pastoral life. Somehow it fails to incorporate the war-mongering, neo-fascist and morally bankrupt aspect your curent regime brings to the table.

  4. It is merely the natural progression of the Police State reaching it’s maturity. Look back to 1930’s Germany for your precedent.
Ain’t nobody safe from the Gestapo baby.

    Yer killin me.

It ain’t all that pastoral if yer a peasant.

As BustedKnucks notes, we is ALL peasants under this feudalism.

    Harumph.

    Yep, THIS Larue’s back!

Festin was a ball, 6 days of rain, lo’s at night in mid 30’s, hi’s in mid 50’s.

And 5,000 of us sat and watched Ricky Skaggs And Kentucky Thunder and Emmy Lou Harris in our rain gear.

    AND WE LOVED IT! *G*

    I got yer feudalism, richeeerrrrr Bayman . . . . *G*

  6. Unaccustomed as I am to disagree with you, Prof, but it’s hardly ‘trivial’ for the police to bust a private party for serving wine (an exhibition opening is invitation only and the wine is free) — or was it that they objected to the art?

Depends on who the lord of the manor is. Hey it ain’t democracy but it’s a form of governing structure. The neo-fascists are worse because they don’t even feel obliged to go through the motions of trying to appease the masses.

  8. Tata Says:

I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure you don’t need a license to serve alcohol unless you’re selling it. The gallery wasn’t selling alcohol. We may not hear much about the resolution of this situation because it and the authorizing party might go away quietly.

  9. Iron Gator Says:

    >>> Depends on who the lord of the manor is.

Situation resembles “Trickle – Down Economics.” Much depends upon whether one is the Trickle-DownOR or a Trickle-DownEE.
