“Framing” Non-Insane Responses To Delusional Nutjob Theocratic Wackadoodle Douchehounds

March 23, 2008

I don’t really have the patience for exegesis of this kind of cockamamie narishkeit, but certain “framers”–non-scientists who seem to spend a lot of fucking time telling scientists how to act to “further the scientific agenda”–have apparently been popping big fucking woodies over the response of non-insane bloggers to the “Expelled” kerfuffle, wherein ridiculous demented right-wing wackaloon theocratic douchemonkeys expelled big huge swinging throbbing massive atheist cockmaster blogger PZ Myers from the loonie theocratic anti-reality wacked-out Jesus-freak movie Expelled.

These “framers” apparently think that non-insane bloggers haven’t been gentle enough in their analysis of the behavior of the demented right-wing wackaloon theocratic douchemonkeys who generated this piece of shit dumbass movie and expelled big huge swinging throbbing massive atheist cockmaster blogger Myers from its showing. As far as I can tell, these “framers” think that non-insane people need to manage their discourse so as to be nicer to insane delusional people, so as to not hurt the feelings of stupid motherfucking right-wing authoritarian followers who believe this kind of complete fucking wackaloon nonsense, the better to further the “scientific agenda”.

I’m sure this will come as no surprise, but all this “managing discourse” crapola gives me a fucking sharp shooting pain in my balls. Intellectually honest people should call things as they see them. And when these right-wing wackaloon theocratic douchemonkeys shut the fuck up about “Jesus this” and “Jesus that” and using their lies and perfidy to attempt to impose their demented fuckwitted iron-age mythology on the entire fucking world–incidentally, leaving massive swaths of death, disease, war, and misery in their wake–and leave me and the people I love the fuck alone, then I will shut the fuck up and leave them alone. But not one fucking minute before.

If we HAVE to do them all as a threesome, no crossed swords.

But for dawg’s sake, SOME one has to do them.

    Cuz they is KILLIN me.

    *G*

A fuck, is a fuck. And they is fuck’s.

    I don’t need no stinking 3 Way.

Someone shoot them, hang them, and THEN hold a trial.

    Harumph.

  2. Nan Says:

The genteel framers consistently forget that the wackaloon fucktards mistake politeness for complacency or (more likely) surrender and use it to their advantage to push their theocratic agenda even farther. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together should be using every opportunity to call them out on their abuse of science and their Xian proselytizing. Being nice to the loons does not help science (or civil liberties) at all; all it does is encourage the wackaloons to become even more obnoxious.

  3. Cherish Says:

I think the point is that when you have Myers and Dawkins calling religious beliefs equivalent to fairy tales and voicing hopes that religion put on the backburner to a population that’s 70% or 80% religious, that 70% or 80% will hear “fairy tales” and get pissed. They’ll stop listening, and they’ll assume *all* scientists share this belief. Whether or not it’s real, making fun of it is not going to win any allies among the majority of the population and in fact may make most of the population believe that science is out to get their religion.

I thought the whole episode with PZ getting kicked out was funny as well as made an excellent point, but in general, I don’t think Dawkins and PZ are the best mouthpieces. They were intentionally chosen for the movie because of their harshly polarizing views.

What I can’t figure out is why these highly rational, analytical scientists don’t get that the average person is NOT going to look at things the same way people on scienceblogs see it. People there are much more educated and thoughtful…and the average person isn’t going to take the time to look into things. They’re going to believe whatever they hear through word of mouth and not check references. And if you don’t believe me, do some *research*. Find a local non-science board where they’re discussing it (or bring it up yourself), and you won’t find the same single-mindedness you keep seeing on SB and related boards.

Right on! Let the Evangelical Christian atheists and Evangelical Christian theists kill each other. Eventually that will be a lot less annoying people for all the normal people to deal with-normal people who don’t feel the inclination to convince others to adopt their own, unprovable beliefs about metaphysical issues. So yeah, fuck framing. In the meantime it’s somewhat enjoyable to watch all these phony cultural* Christians bitch at each other.

I love seeing the word “narischkeit” used for this. 😉

  6. MNObserver Says:

“…big huge swinging throbbing massive atheist cockmaster blogger PZ Myers.”

Ever actually meet PZ? Kind of a quiet, nice, friendly fellow. Not at all like the rabid person he is online.

Of course, this is Minnesota and in keeping with normal upper Midwestern discourse, I’ve not spoken with him about his penis. I doubt I ever will.

  7. bikemonkey Says:

since you are from Minnesota and apparently y’all don’t allow cursing in your state…”big swinging dick” does not necessarily refer literally to one’s penis size…

    carry on.

  8. Marilyn Says:

There is no “c” in narishkeit.

Why do these people call themselves “framers”?

    Marilyn

  9. Amanda Says:

Um…I’m adding you to my blogroll. Right away 🙂

  10. John Morales Says:

A post of excellent clarity with robust exasperation, yet perhaps lacking in subtlety.

    9/10.

  11. PhysioProf Says:

Sounds like a big young cabernet.

  12. Marilyn, Nisbet has called his blog ‘Framing Science’ since joining ScienceBlogs and he and Mooney co-authored a one-page editorial of the same name in Science. It’s a whiz-bang name for tailoring your message and content to the receiving audience – but saying that doesn’t get me a pub in Science.

That’s pretty much the best summary I’ve ever read on the history of religion and civilization.

  13. bikemonkey Says:

there is nothing wrong with “framing” per se, as Abel notes. Everybody “frames” their message. Where the Sb “framers” descend into wackaloon douchecornetry is insisting that their frame is the right frame.

that is an empirical question. do they provide any data to support their hypotheses? do the anti-framers?

  14. idlemind Says:

I think it’s important to realize that those “right-wing wackaloon theocratic douchemonkeys” would have no problem whatever finding opponents to label as satan’s spawn even if PZ, Dawkins, and other outspoken atheists did not exist. Their views are absolute, and it matters not if those who disagree with them are the firebrand godless or the milquetoast presbyterians.

  15. PhysioProf Says:

You are absolutely correct. In fact, what you have pointed out is a species of the general problem that progressive politicians have in dealing with the right wing. They think that if only they are “nicer”, or pander a little more to insane right-wing douchemonkeys, the right-wing will stop screaming non-stop about how liberals hate America and are traitors and want all of our children to be taught in school that it is a good idea to fuck their pets. But they are wrong: No matter what non-insane non-right-wing non-wackaloons say or do, they right wing will always screech at maximum volume. That is because their screeching is not directed at anyone who is not wackadoodle insane, and is only for riling up their drooling delusional insance base.

  16. […] it until recently (h/t Coturnix). It also addresses an important and timely point, given all the recent discussion on “tone”, and “framing”, and shit like that. For fuck’s sake, even […]

  17. tuatara Says:

You are hopelessly out of touch with the vast majority of America. I don’t know where you live, but you really need to get out and meet more people from different walks of life. Through that experience, I hope you can gain some compassion for other folks views.

I definitely take issue with framing science as well. Surrendering our personal views to one large PR agenda would is antithetical to the scientific method. However, we all need to work harder to reach out to our own communities. Staying in the lab all the time will mean smaller budgets and less respect in the future. Excessive cursing does not really help either, but you can do whatever you feel is best.
